Pedestrian Possibly Struck By SEPTA Train In Old City

PHILADELPHIA (CBS)—According to SEPTA, a 59-year-old female was possibly struck by a train late Thursday morning.

The incident occurred at 5th and Market Streets on the Market/Frankford Line by the 5th Street station exit.

SEPTA says the woman was in the track area, but the train was able to brake.

When the train came to a stop, the woman was under the first car.

SEPTA is unsure if she fell onto the tracks or was in the track area voluntarily.

The woman's condition is unknown at this time.

Around noon, SEPTA released the following statement: Normal train service has resumed on SEPTA's Market-Frankford Line. A person was removed from the track area at 5th Street Station westbound and taken to a local hospital with unknown injuries.
