NEWARK, Del. (CBS) – Fifty Delaware coworkers are $20,000 richer.
According to lottery officials, the workers, who are from New Castle County and opted to remain anonymous, won a collective $1 million from Tuesday night’s $648 million Mega Millions drawing.
And though they don’t wish to be identified, officials say the group told them that they always play the Powerball and Mega Millions when the jackpots are big. The lucky ticket was apparently a Quick Pick ticket rather than a predetermined pattern or set of lucky numbers and was purchased at the Shop Rite on Plaza Drive in Newark.
“I was in disbelief,” said the female representative who claimed the prize. “I checked my spreadsheet of numbers Wednesday morning and then went into the safe to get the ticket to double-check it.”
Each member of the “Lucky 50” will receive a $20,000 prize before taxes.
