Police: Man Steals Jaguar, Hits 2 Officers With Car Door in Camden

CAMDEN, N.J., (CBS) – Police have arrested a man they say stole a Jaguar and struck two officers with the driver's side door Tuesday in Camden.

Camden County Police say at 10:50 a.m., two officers on patrol saw a black Jaguar at 10th and Elm that fit the description of a stolen vehicle.

According to police, the officers approached the vehicle and the driver, identified by police as Edwin Mangual, 25, of Camden, allegedly reversed the car with the driver's side door still open. Police say the door struck the officers, knocking them to the ground as he fled the area.

Minutes later, the Jaguar was found by officers unoccupied on the 700 block of N. 28th Street in East Camden.

A sergeant and his K9 partner responded to the area and tracked Mangual to the 2700 block of Cleveland Street where Mangual was found in a garage.

Mangual was charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, Eluding and Receiving Stolen Property.

He was remanded to the county jail with bail set at $50,000 cash or bond.
