17-Year-Old Shot, Killed in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Del., (CBS) – Wilmington Police say a 17-year-old male is dead after a shooting Monday night.

Officers responded shortly after 6 p.m. to the 2600 block of North Van Buren Street after receiving a 911 call reporting shots fired.

Police say officers located the victim inside a residence who had suffered gunshot wounds to his upper body.

Officers administered first aid and CPR. The 17-year-old was rushed to Christiana Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Police say the victim's name is being withheld pending family notification.

The investigation is ongoing.

Police say this is the 20th homicide investigation of 2013.
