Winter Exercise Adjustments
By Dr. Brian McDonough, Medical Editor
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - I am a big supporter of exercise all year long and consistency of exercise but you have to use common sense as the temperatures plunge.
First, make certain you are dressed appropriately for the weather. This also means dressed appropriately for the time of day. If it is dusk or dark, make certain you have reflective clothing.
Another common cause of injury is jogging or walking and not noticing ice patches. The bottom line is you need to be aware of your environment.
And don't think you are out of the woods if you are exercising indoors. Remember that you need to stretch and don't start out immediately after coming in from he cold.
