Weather Blog: From Mild To Wild

By Carol Erickson

PHILADELPHIA (CBS)-- The weather has taken on a few personality changes lately.

Overnight temperatures remained in the low 60's with afternoon temperatures dropping to the 40's today. Also falling along with those  temperatures, rain.

Expect that rainy trend to continue right through the overnight into early Saturday morning. Then, a slight break moves our way – in fact, the sun may put in what will be a rare appearance over the next few days. By Sunday late morning or early afternoon, another weather system brings in precipitation just as cold air settles over us.

As a result, expect to find some snow or sleet starting Sunday afternoon and moving to the north. Warmer air will follow along, but not before an inch or so of snow and sleet may fall.

Higher elevations might pick up more and total amounts could vary depending on location. Any snowy/sleety amounts will wash away in warming temperatures and rain on Monday, before very cold air comes in mid week.

And remember, it is still officially fall. Winter is several weeks away.
