Bail Set At $2 Million For Man Accused Of Shooting Marine Outside Camden Bar
CAMDEN, N.J. (CBS) -- The Camden County Prosecutor's Office says 31-year-old Darrell Crone, accused of shooting Timothy Loper, turned himself in at the Camden County Police Department Police Administration Building at about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
He has been charged with murder in the shooting death of Timothy Loper Jr.
According to police, Loper was attempting to break up a fight outside the 20 Horse Tavern in Camden around 2:45 a.m. on Sunday when Crone pulled out a gun and began firing.
Loper was struck by a bullet and killed.
On Monday night, Loper's father told Eyewitness News the family wants his son's killer brought to justice.
"All we want is a little closure," he said. "It was a cowardly move. You took an innocent man for no reason."
Loper's family also says he had recently started college, and that he leaves behind a wife and a six-year-old daughter.
"This young man had bravely served his country and deserved much better than being killed in such a senseless act of violence," Chief Thomson of the Camden County Police Department said.
Crone was arraigned on Thursday and his bail was set at $2 million.
