PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — A driver was arrested on DUI charges after he struck and injured a man with his car and then fled the scene early Wednesday morning in Southwest Philadelphia.

The incident happened shortly before 1 a.m. at the intersection of 54th Street and Woodland Avenue in the city’s Kingsessing neighborhood.

Police say a man was crossing with the green light when he was hit by a Honda Civic and went through the car’s windshield.

Two of the three people inside the car, including the driver, ran away from the scene, leaving a woman, who was a passenger in the car, and the injured man.

Responding officers received a description of the two men from the woman, and they were picked up by police a few blocks away.

The driver is facing DUI charges and other related offenses. The second man was not initially charged.

The victim was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania with a broken leg and other injuries. He was listed in critical, but stable condition.
