Caught On Tape: Violent Attack In Center City
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Police are searching for two suspects who were caught on tape violently assaulting a man in Center City.
The incident happened at about 2 a.m. on November 10th in the 200 block of South Camac Street.
The victim says he was in a bar when he got into a fight with a bouncer and then left the establishment.
Surveillance video released by police shows the 36-year-old victim walking down the street and after what police believe was a brief argument or taunting, one of the suspects approaches him from behind and punches him in the side of the head, knocking him to the ground.
Residents in the area say it is a nice part of town but they avoid the alleys.
One female says, “I wouldn’t walk through these alleys at night by myself.”
A business-owner in the area, Sabrina Collins says, “It’s where my business is, it’s a great neighborhood but I don’t think I’d be around here 3:30 at night.”
While the victim was on the ground and unconscious, the second suspect punched the victim in the face several times.
Both of the suspects then fled on foot.
The first suspect is described as a white male who was wearing a red/white/blue coat, with dark-colored pants and shoes. This is the suspect who initially punched the victim.
The second suspect is described as a white male with shorts, wearing glasses, a dark-colored dress coat, blue jeans and brown shoes.
Lt. Patrick Doherty says, “We are going to figure this out. We’re going to find out exactly what happened and who’s involved. So again, if the people involved in this, the assailants, I recommend that they contact Central Detectives.”
The victim tells Eyewitness News it’s been almost a month since the attack and he still needs another surgery.
Anyone with information is urged to call 911.
