Waterfront Winterfest Up-And-Running At Penn’s Landing

By Cherri Gregg

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – While mom and dad are shopping, many teens and tweens flocked to the RiverRink at Penn’s Landing for the opening day of the Waterfront Winterfest Friday.

Hundreds braved the sunny, but cold day to see the up-and-coming pop boy-band ‘Midnight Red’ and the Disney Channel ‘Sensation Zendaya.’

Dakota Gratman came with her sister to enjoy the concert and skate a little, and their dad, Steve, says they got a big surprise:

“We went on instagram and liked the picture and then the one girl came over and gave us back stage passes.”

The Riverrink is also a magnet for moms and dads who want to keep warm, hanging out during the Winterfest, which has transformed the Riverrink into a winter wonderland with a pop up holiday village, retail shops, fire pits and a beer garden with all sorts of wonderful beverages.

The Waterfront Winterfest is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. through January 5th.
