Adopted Animals From Bucks County Shelter Star In New Calendar

By John McDevitt

QUAKERTOWN, Pa. (CBS) - A holiday gift idea that helps you to remember things and help animals at the same time is now available.

The Last Chance Ranch animal rescue in Quakertown is out with its 2014 calendar.  It stars its animals who have been adopted out and are in new homes.

The owners of more than 100 animals and their stories were submitted for the calendar. Thirteen of those were selected.

"You can obviously see the stories of happy endings for a lot of our animals," Chris Baringer says.

Baringer is the animal health care manager at the non-profit.

"Gismo is April 2014," Baringer explains. "He is actually a horse we purchased from auction.  He was going to slaughter and he was a young horse and he had just been started under saddle and we put some time and training into him and he was adopted out.  And now he is actually winning shows, and there are pictures of him in his class."

Also featured is Desi, a retired puppy mill breeder dog.  There's Chiquta, an iguana dressed in a Santa hat and scarf, as well as Scooter, the pot belly pig who was once afraid of people, but now goes for a walk on a leash with his new owner.

Proceeds from the sales will go to help animals housed at the shelter.
