Police: Driver Sought In Wilmington Hit-And-Run That Left Pedestrian In Serious Condition

WILMINGTON, Del., (CBS) – Wilmington Police are searching for a driver wanted in connection with a hit-and-run accident that left a pedestrian in serious condition Tuesday morning.

It happened at about 11:09 a.m. as 61-year-old John Weaver, of Wilmington, crossed in the middle of the 900 block of N. Orange Street.

According to police, a black four door Honda sedan with unknown Delaware registration struck Weaver while traveling northbound in the block causing the passenger side rear view mirror to fall off.

Police say the vehicle continued north on Orange Street and disregarded a red traffic signal at W.10th and N. Orange Streets.

Weaver was taken to Christiana Hospital in serious but stable condition.

Police continue to search for the suspect vehicle and the driver.
