Reading Terminal Market Braces for Biggest Time Of Year

By Hadas Kuznits

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The folks at Philadelphia's Reading Terminal Market are gearing up for a huge influx of shoppers this week.

Sarah Levitsky, marketing and event manager for Reading Terminal Market says their biggest day of the year is approaching.

"We're closed Thanksgiving Day. So the Wednesday before Thanksgiving is really when everyone comes and does their shopping here."

She says folks are lined up out the door before the market even opens.

"The market on the day before Thanksgiving is really packed all day.  It starts out right when the doors open and then it continues throughout the day; people shop in the morning, they grab lunch and they start back up again."

And there's a festive vibe about the day.

"It's really a lot of fun.  People are in a good mood because they're excited about the holiday and seeing their friends and their family and we sell record numbers of turkeys and sweet potatoes and collard greens every year."
