On 50th Anniversary Of Assassination, KYW Newsradio Speaks To Reporter Who Covered Kennedy's Texas Trip

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – On the fiftieth anniversary of the assassination of President Kennedy, people across America are remembering where they were when tragedy struck.

In November 1963, Sid Davis was the White House Correspondent for Westinghouse Broadcasting and KYW Radio.

He was in Dallas covering President Kennedy's Texas trip, and was at the hospital when it was announced that the president had died. Sid also was the only broadcast pool reporter to cover the swearing in of Lyndon Johnson aboard Air Force One. In the photo, he is standing directly behind Jackie Kennedy.

In a special interview for KYW Newsradio's "Reporters Roundup," KYW's Steve Nikazy talks with Sid about the events he witnessed 50 years ago and his coverage of the historic and tragic events of that weekend. Some of the Sid's reports in this podcast haven't been heard on KYW Radio since the assassination.
