Loews Hotels Brings Booking Process To Twitter

By Melony Roy

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Loews Hotel & Resorts have rolled out a new booking process that takes place on an entirely new platform -- Twitter!

Loews Director of social media Piper Stevens says that prior to launching this new system, they found that most of their twitter conversations with consumers were around the reservation process.

"We really wanted to create a more active social conversation so that's where Twitter became the natural network to build this new distribution channel around"

Stevens says the process is relatively simple.

"Just tweet our brand handle which is @loews _hotels and include the hashtag #bookloews within the tweet. At that point one of our travel planners would reply and include a secure chat link within their response."

But is it safe?

"It was really important for us to build a transaction system in a social environment but also make sure that consumer security and privacy is protected."

In a tweet-worthy fashion, Loews is offering a deal to the first 140 consumers to use the Twitter-based reservations system will receive a discounted rate of just $140 per night.

Loews Social Reservations also launched a new blog, Wish You Were Here (www.loewshotelsblog.com). Stevens spent five months traveling to Loews locations to highlight must-see attractions, entertainment, food and beverage destinations.
