Police picked up the two suspects Tuesday afternoon.

Tyrique Hall, 21, and Jose Sanchez, 18, have been charged with Criminal Conspiracy, Possession of an Instrument of Crime and Cruelty to Animals.

The PSPCA believes the suspects used an accelerant to set the cat on fire.

The cat, named Campbell, remains in the PSPCA shelter hospital and is expected to stay for at least another month to recover.

"The cat was burned over 60 percent to 65 percent of its body. It's going to take a lot to bring this cat back to health, but we believe it is going to survive," said the PSPCA's Director of Law Enforcement George Bengal.

The suspects could face up to 10 years in jail.
