1 Injured In School Bus Crash In Winslow Township, New Jersey

WINSLOW TWP. (CBS) -- A school bus was involved in a crash Wednesday morning in Atco, New Jersey.

Authorities say the accident involving a school bus and another vehicle happened at about 8 a.m. at the intersection of Route 73 southbound and Cooper Folly Road.

Patricia Mebs was driving the school bus when it crossed the centerline on Cooper Folly Road and struck a utility pole.

The bus then veered onto Route 73 and collided with another vehicle driven by Elisabeth Canavan.

Canavan suffered a broken wrist and bruised knee in the collision. The bus driver, Mebs, did not sustain any injuries but was transported to an area hospital for evaluation.

No one was on board the bus at the time of the accident except the driver.

Police say the road was closed for some time while the accident was investigated.

 

08:00 am a crash occurred between a Winslow Township School Bus driven by Patricia Mebs and another vehicle driven by Elisabeth Canavan.  The school bus was being driven west on Cooper Folly Road approaching Rt 73.  For unknown reasons the school bus crossed the centerline on Cooper Folly Road and jumped the curb then struck a utility pole.  The bus continued and entered onto Route 73 where it made impact with a vehicle heading north on Rt 73 being driven by Canavan.  Another vehicle heading east on Cooper Folly Road driven by Stephanie McCrary struck the downed utility pole that was laying in the roadway.  She did not sustain any injury in the crash.  Canavan suffered a broken wrist and a bruised knee.  The bus driver Mebs was transported to an area hospital for evaluation.  She was not injured in the crash.  There were no children on the bus at the time of the crash.  The crash remains under investigation.
