Eagles Sign Wide Receiver Brad Smith

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Eagles have signed wide receiver Brad Smith, and released wide receiver BJ Cunningham, the team announced today.

Smith, 29 years old, was most recently with the Buffalo Bills, after his first five seasons with the New York Jets after they took him in the fourth round of the 2006 NFL Draft. He was released from the Bills injured reserve list earlier this week.

Smith was a quarterback in college at Missouri, where he became the first player in division 1-A history to pass for 8,000 yards and run for 4,000 yards in career.

In the NFL, Smith has been used at several different positions, most prevalently at wide receiver, running back, and as a kick returner. Smith has 101 career receptions for 949 yards and five touchdowns, 132 rushes for 970 yards and four touchdowns, and has scored four times on kick returns.
