St Joseph's Races Past Vermont In 74-64 Win

BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — Ronald Roberts Jr. and Langston Galloway scored 21 points each to lead St. Joseph's to a 74-64 win over Vermont in a Saturday season opener.

Joining them in double digits was freshman DeAndre Bembry, who was 4 of 8 with 11 points and six rebounds.

The Hawks went 24 of 52 from the field, 46 percent, but held off Vermont, which shot just 39 percent.

Clancy Rugg scored 17 points and had six rebounds and Brian Voelkel hauled in 10 rebounds as well for Vermont, which trailed for most of the game but drew close in the second half with a 13-0 run.

It put the Catamounts just three points behind at 51-48 with 8:40 left but the drive stalled as the Hawks stepped up to pull away and secure the win.
