Movie With Major Star Power Being Shot In Philadelphia

By John McDevitt

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A feature film with some well-known Hollywood actors has been shooting in the Philadelphia area over the past three weeks.

It is called "Franny" and it stars Richard Gere, Dakota Fanning and Theo James. It is being shot along Spruce Street near 20th Street, in a residential neighborhood.

'No Parking' signs are posted on several blocks to be used for film crew trucks and trailers. While it's a bit of an inconvenience for some, others like Josh Warner think it's kind of cool:

"This happens like three or four times a year along Spruce Street here. Logistically, parking and movement is impaired, yes, but it brings in a lot of business."

Passersby were treated with glimpses of the movies actors. Gilbert is a professional photographer who sells celebrity shots to magazines and tabloids.

"They let you know if you are getting too close or if you are getting too bothersome. They let you know, so we pull back," he said.

Gilbert photographed Richard Gere exiting a make-up trailer.

"He's a nice guy," Gilbert said. "He actually asked his people if they could let him walk by himself so I could get my shot."

Gere plays an eccentric philanthropist in the film.
