Veteran Traffic Reporter John Brown Retires

By Michelle Durham

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Longtime Traffic Reporter John Brown has retired after 44 years in broadcasting, including three decades dedicated to traffic in the Philadelphia market.

His familiar voice guided millions of listeners through countless traffic jams. John Brown's radio career ended at 5:52 Thursday evening, so how has Delaware Valley traffic changed over the last 34 years?

"It's gotten a lot worse! When I first started back in 1979, the area we covered was so small compared to the area we cover now," he said. "It's just incredible!"

Any other nuances he's noticed over all these years?

"Philadelphia area drivers are crazy when it snows or rains."

What will he miss most?

"I'm going to miss working with a lot of the nice people. I'm really fortunate that over the years I've worked with some of the best talent in Philadelphia."

You will be missed, John. Thank you.
