Philadelphia's Project Runway Winner Honored By Mayor Nutter At Her Alma Mater

By Pat Loeb

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The National Champion of Fashion comes home to Philadelphia.

Philadelphia's fashion sensation paid a call on her alma mater Monday.

Moore College of Art alumna Dominique Streater is this season's winner of the design show, "Project Runway," and the whole school feels victorious.

Dom Streater walked in and out of Moore for four years with no fanfare; she'll probably never be able to do that again.

An enthusiastic crowd of students and teachers gathered to watch her get a proclamation from Mayor Michael Nutter, which she accepted with grace, and a little poke at local sports.

"I was born and raised in West Philadelphia, so this is my city, so I wanted to rep Philly well. So I'm glad I brought us home a win. Somebody had to," Streater said.

Streater was in the Class of 2010, but current students show a feeling of closeness.

"Moore is a very small school, all girls, a lot of people don't really know about it and Dom put Moore on the map. Shows that we're talented," a student said.

And that's fine with Streater.

"People are so supportive, it's incredible, and I'm just really, really thankful for it," Streater said.
