Roy Shapiro loved his job and the people who worked for him.

Gwendolyn Sutton worked with Shapiro on the TV side in the commercial scheduling department, also known as traffic, and says Roy paid a daily visit.

"Peeking over the wall, and just say 'how you doin' today, how's my favorite traffic department,'" Sutton remembered. "Even though he was radio, he would still say that to TV."

Eighteen years ago, Rob Kaloustian got his start in radio thanks to Roy.

"His demeanor was that work was fun, he also enjoyed himself in the office," he said. "And I try to emulate that. I can't say enough good things about him."

KYW reporter Paul Kurtz remembers when corporate belt-tightening threatened the annual Christmas party:

"Roy opened his doors to his house, and we all went in there. I don't think we trashed the pl...yeah, we trashed the place. And he still had it again the next year. Finally got wise after that. He was terrific."
