More People See Online Dating As A Viable Way To Meet A Mate, Study Says

By Michelle Durham

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A recent report by the Pew Research Center found a big change in attitude when it comes to online dating.

Senior Researcher for the Pew Research Center Aaron Smith.

"The two big things that we found are one in 10 Americans have now used an online dating service or dating app," Smith said. "And people's attitudes about online dating have really changed fairly dramatically. They are now more likely to say that online dating is a good way to meet people."

Christina lives in Philly.

"I think it helps for people who work a lot and don't have much free time."

Teri Long of Royersford says online dating changed her life.

"We met and essentially had a seven hour first date. We got married a little over five years ago and we have two beautiful daughters. Gabrielle will be three in December and Julianna will be four months old!"

Smith says there were plenty of folks polled who discovered someone who they felt misrepresented themselves online, so you still need to be careful.
