The Camden shipyard and maritime museum will be located right in the heart of the cities old shipyard district.
"It's a historic renovation of the church of our Savior at Broadway and Viola streets in South Camden, said Michael Lang with the Camden shipyard museum.
Lang says they hope to show people all the contributions Camden made to life on the water
"Camdenites built ships from fairies to aircraft carriers to atomic submarines to nuclear powered merchant ships to pleasure boats you name it it was built in Camden," Lang said.
Lang says the museum is scheduled to open next spring, but they are already making their presence known in the community.
"We have some exciting programs with inner city children working with adult mentors building various kinds of small boats, canoes, kayaks, paddle boards, sailboats," Lang said.
