Chestnut Hill Hosts Third Annual Harry Potter Festival

By Hadas Kuznits

PHILADELPHIA (CBS)--Chestnut Hill is hosting the third annual Harry Potter Festival on Germantown Avenue.

The festival kicked off Friday night and runs through Saturday evening.

Kate O'Neill, deputy director of the Chestnut Hill Business Association says the Harry Potter Festival is held in conjunction with the annual Quidditch tournament at Chestnut Hill College.

What is Quidditch? It's the sport played at the school of the fictional character Harry Potter:

"So for the day that they hold the tournament, they're Hogwarts and the shopping district of Chestnut Hill plays the town that's aligned with the Harry Potter stories, it's called Hogsmeade."

During the Harry Potter Festival, shops rename themselves according to the Harry Potter books and there are special themed events:

"The Harry Potter Festival is a celebration of the Brotherly Love Cup tournament at Chestnut Hill College."

Also, O'Neill says people like to dress up like characters from the book:

"I see Harry, Hermione, Snape, Dumbledore, Rita Skeeter, I see all of them!"
