New Jersey Man Charged With Animal Cruelty

MIDDLE Twp., N.J. (CBS)--On September 19th, the Middle Township Police Department responded to the Animal Welfare Society in Dias Creek for a report that a dog had been shot with BBs.

At the time, the dog appeared to have been shot in the nose with a BB. Officers collected several BBs in and around the dog's cage.

The dog was taken to area vets and x-rays showed the dog had been hit approximately 70 times.

On October 16th, Detective Clint Stocker of the Middle Township Major Crimes Unit arrested Nicholas F. Spurrier, 29, of Dias Creek.

Spurrier was charged with Animal Cruelty and Criminal Mischief.

Spurrier was charged on a summons and released.
