Police ID Woman Found Shot To Death In Riverton

RIVERTON, N.J. (CBS) -- Authorities in a normally quiet New Jersey neighborhood are investigating the town's first murder in nearly three decades.

Prosecutor Robert Bernardi says a woman was found shot to death on Carriage House Lane near Lippincott Avenue in Riverton shortly before 5:30 Sunday morning.

The victim was identified by police Monday as 22-year-old Te'Aira Denise Earvin of Youngstown, Ohio.

An autopsy performed indicated that Earvin died as a result of gunshot wounds. The manner of death was listed as homicide.

No arrests have been made and police are asking for the public's help.

The following message was posted on the Riverton Police Department's Facebook page Sunday:

"The Riverton Police Department wants the residents and businesses in Riverton to know that there is no reason for alarm over the breaking news from earlier this morning. Our department, in conjunction with the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office, is actively and diligently investigating the events of this morning, but we want you to know you are safe to participate in all of your normal daily activities, including being outside, jogging, walking your dogs, etc. We will update you with pertinent information when we can."

Sunday's murder was the first murder in Riverton since the early 1980s.
