PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Mandolin virtuoso Chris Thile plays the Kimmel Center's Perelman Theater on Wednesday, October 23rd.

Matt Wolf
Although Thile's musical roots are in progressive bluegrass, his work transcends labels -- his most recent release is an exploration of Bach's Partitas and Sonatas.
"He's one of those musicians who desires to do more. He's going to use his own compositions, and explore all the other genres of music that he is so adept at performing. The specific wonderful nature of this program is that it is challenging, enjoyable, and breathtaking all at the same time," says the Kimmel Center's Matt Wolf.
And it takes place in the intimate Perelman Theater.
"There're no bad seats in the house, everybody's going to feel like they're part of the performance. It's really going to be a fantastic evening," Wolf adds.
