AAA Mid-Atlantic Predicts More Falling Gas Prices

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — During the current stalemate in Washington, one place to turn for good news is the gas pump.

AAA Mid-Atlantic says gas prices continued to fall last week and should maintain that trend through the end of the year.

The organization says the average price nationally for a gallon of regular unleaded gas was $3.35 on Friday, two cents lower than a week ago. That also is 22 cents lower than a month ago and 46 cents lower than a year ago.

AAA credits sufficient supplies, flat demand and cheaper winter-blend gasoline for the downturn. It says that, barring a hurricane or other major disruption to gasoline production, the national average could drop as low as $3.10 per gallon by Christmas. That would be the lowest price since early 2011.
