1 Dead Following Accident In Delaware

NEWARK, Del. (CBS) – One person is dead after a collision in Delaware on Saturday night.

The accident happened around 6:35 p.m. at the intersection of South College Avenue and Christina Parkway.

Police say a 2012 BMW sedan failed to stop at a red light, striking the rear of a Camry at a high rate of speed.

Witnesses say the driver of the BMW tried to flee the scene but was quickly apprehended by police.

The rear seat passenger of the Camry, an 80-year-old female, was pronounced dead at Christiana Hospital. The driver of the Camry, a 60-year-old female, and the front seat passenger, a 66-year-old male, are being treated for non life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the BMW is also being treated for non life-threatening injuries at Christiana Hospital.

Police say no charges have been filed at this time, and an investigation is ongoing.
