Missing Bucks County Boater's Kayak Found

By Brad Segall

BENSALEM, Pa. (CBS) --- Authorities in Bensalem (Bucks County) say a red kayak belonging to a boater who went missing in the Delaware River this week has now been recovered, but there's still no sign of the man.

After Bensalem police put out word that Xiang He, 38, was missing, a resident of Delanco, NJ called to say he found a kayak.

Police retrieved the kayak and determined that it belonged to He, who was last seen Tuesday afternoon at the boat ramp on River Road in the Torresdale Manor section of the township.

Bensalem police sergeant Andy Aninsman says the search has been called off because the weather has made the river too dangerous.

"We have not sent out a recovery team at this point because we don't know where he would be. The tide has changed at least five times since we found out he was missing," Aninsman said.

Sgt. Aninsman says they believe He used the kayak to travel from the dock to his moored boat, but apparently something went wrong on his way back.

An investigation is underway, although Aninsman says there's nothing here that appears criminal.
