Man Shot In Leg During Apparent Robbery Attempt In Holmesburg

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) –- Police are investigating a shooting in Northeast Philadelphia Tuesday morning that sent a man to the hospital.

The shooting happened at about 1 a.m. in the 4700 block of Meridian Street in the city's Holmesburg section.

According to investigators, neighbors called 911 after hearing gunshots. When police arrived, they found an unidentified man with a gunshot wound to his leg.

The victim was taken to Aria Health's Torresdale Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.

The gunman fled after shooting the victim. Police are investigating whether robbery was a possible motive.

Anyone with information is urged to call 911.

The shooting remains under investigation.
