Del. Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting 12-Year-Old Boy

NEW CASTLE, Del. (CBS) – An 18-year-old has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy.

Bruce Cherry, from the Simonds Garden community in New Castle, was arrested Tuesday after an investigation.

New Castle County Detectives say that on Oct. 8 around 8:20 p.m., they were assigned to investigate a reported sexual abuse case involving the pre-teen, who was reportedly sexually abused near his New Castle home and held against his will.

Investigators say they determined that a male acquaintance, identified as Bruce Cherry, was responsible for the assault. Cherry was later arrested without incident.

The suspect is now facing charges of rape in the first degree, unlawful sexual contact, endangering the welfare of a child, unlawful imprisonment in the second degree and offensive touching.

Cherry was committed to Howard Young Correctional Institute after failing to post $113,000 cash bail.
