PHILADELPHIA (CBS)–Philadelphia Police were called at approximately 3:00 a.m. to a house on the 2600 block of South Daggett Street after reports of gunshots.
Upon arrival, they heard gunshots inside the home and immediately surrounded the front and rear side of the property.
At this time, a male exited the front of the home with a gunshot wound to his leg.
Additional gunshots could be heard inside and police declared it a barricade situation. SWAT and negotiators were requested.
Police then received information that a female and her three children were still inside. Soon after, the woman and her three children safely exited through the back of the home.
After speaking with the woman and the man who had been shot, police determined that another man was alone inside of the home.
Police attempted to negotiate with the man. He did not respond to police communication and they did not see or hear him for three hours.
Fearing for the man’s safety, police began a series of measures to find him. They sent robots inside to clear the property from the outside. A robot detected the man, so police went inside the home and found him unconscious in the front bedroom.
He did not suffer from any gunshots wounds. It is still unclear why the barricaded man was unconscious.
The male victim who was shot in the leg is in stable condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
At least one shot was fired at police, but no officers were injured.
After an investigation, one gun was found inside the property.
