Wilmington Police Investigating Saturday Night Shooting

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Wilmington police are asking for information involving a shooting on Saturday night that left a 17 year-old girl injured.

Police say that officers responded to a 911 call at 8:22pm on Saturday night regarding gunshots heard in the vicinity of West 3rd Street.

Prior to the officers arrival, police say dispatchers informed them that a 17 year-old female arrived at St. Francis Hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to her left leg. The victim was transported to Christiana Hospital, and her status is unknown.

Investigators say the evidence suggests the victim was walking on the 1400 block of West 3rd Street, when she observed an unspecified number of suspects running in her direction. An unknown subject began shooting and the victim was struck in the leg.
