MAGNOLIA, N.J., (CBS) – Authorities are investigating a murder-suicide in Magnolia, Camden County Wednesday night.

Investigators say 66-year-old Henry Yip, of the 300 block of E. Washington Avenue shot his wife, 54-year-old Vicki Yip. He then shot himself.

Police initially responded to the home around 7 p.m. after receiving a call from a relative to check on the couple’s welfare.

According to investigators, a responding officer saw a person in the home then heard a gunshot.

Almost at the same time, investigators say police received a call from the residence from an individual who stated he had killed his wife and was going to kill himself.

Authorities say the relative who notified police had earlier in the evening received an alarming phone call from Henry Yip and was concerned enough to contact authorities.

Residents were forced inside their homes as SWAT team members surrounded the residence.

Neighbors have since been allowed back inside of their homes.

The incident remains under investigation.
