Philadelphia Parks & Rec Program Offers City Residents, Community Organizations Free Trees

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Doing a little fall landscaping and live in Philadelphia?

You can now get two free trees courtesy of a local organization that aims to green the city.

TreePhilly, a Philadelphia Parks & Rec program that provides free yard trees to city residents and religious or community organizations, is handing out the trees at four November events to those who register between now and Oct. 31st. Individual property owners can request two free trees, while organizations can get up to 10.

There are even a limited number of fruit trees available this time for those who want beauty, shade and produce.

Trees will be available for pick-up on Nov. 9, 10, 16 and 17, and experts will be present at pick-up events to help residents decide which trees are best for their property and to teach them how to care for the trees they choose.
