Possible Attempted Child Luring In New Castle

NEW CASTLE, Del. (CBS)-- A New Castle Elementary School student was allegedly approached by a man while waiting for his bus at the corner of Hunn and Bassette Avenues in Wilmington Manor this morning.

According to the 10-year-old, a man described as Hispanic, heavy set, with a dragon tattoo on his wrist and a wedding band tattooed on his finger, asked the fifth grader if he was lost or if he needed a ride.

Reports indicate the boy then ran to a neighbor's house and reported the incident.

"I applaud this youngster for knowing exactly what to do when confronted with a stranger who could have lured him into his vehicle," said Superintendent Dr. Dorothy Linn.

The unidentified male was reportedly driving a newer model black Silverado vehicle with a dent in the tailgate and possibly a Maryland. Anyone with information is asked to contact New Castle County Police at (302) 573-2800.
