Biggest Veggies Compete At Fall Garden Festival

By Phran Novelli

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Well, there won't be any examples from my pitiful pots of produce this summer, but if you've had a bumper crop in your garden, you can show them off and compete at the PHS Fall Garden Festival this Saturday down at the Navy Yard. Bring your biggest veggies to vie in their "Garden Giants" contest in a smackdown, so to speak, with other gardeners' colossal cabbages, gianormous garlic, titanic tomatoes - you get the idea.

Entries will be judged by their weight, length, or girth,(oh my, the jokes just write themselves don't they?).

Or, if size doesn't matter to you, perhaps you'd prefer to present your best in the 'Garden Bounty' competition, where artfully arranged fall flowers and prettily placed preened produce will be evaluated by expert judges, and abundance is also encouraged in this category.

To compete, get your entries to the Harvest Bounty Tent at the Navy Yard on Saturday morning between 8 and 10 am.
