PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — It may not feel like fall, but Halloween is already in the air at a historic landmark in Fairmount.
Eastern State Penitentiary is getting ready for its biggest fundraiser of the year, “Terror Behind the Walls.”
Listen to the podcast below…
A scissor lift hoisted two six-foot, smoke-breathing gargoyles atop Eastern State Pen. It’s an annual event signaling the gates of “Terror Behind the Walls” are soon to open.
Amy Hollaman, the creative director for the haunted house, says there’s something new this year.
“We are allowing people to enter the prison as visitors and see the action that is taking place, or they can make the choice to be marked, and to be tracked, and to walk through the six attractions with the potential of being of grabbed, being pulled into a dark corridor…being pulled away from your group,” Hollaman explains.
If you chicken out, Hollaman says simply take off your glow in the dark necklace.
Terror Behind the Walls runs on select evenings from September 20 through November 9.
