Police: Philadelphia Man Killed Crossing Delaware Highway

NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP) — Delaware State Police say a Philadelphia man was killed when he was hit by a car while crossing a highway in New Castle.

Police say the 33-year-old man was running across southbound U.S. Route 13 from the median on Sunday night when he was hit. The driver of the Lexus 330 swerved to avoid the man, but police say the front of the car hit him. The man was pronounced dead on the scene. Police are not releasing his name, pending notification of next of kin.

Police say the driver had a minor injury, but did not require immediate medical treatment.

The collision reconstruction unit is investigating the crash.
