Bank Robber Uses BMW As Getaway Car in Whitpain Township

WHITPAIN Twp., Pa., (CBS) – Whitpain Township Police and the FBI are searching for a suspect in connection with an armed bank robbery — who they say fled in a BMW.

The incident happened at about 12:30 p.m. at a Wells Fargo Bank on West Skippack Pike in Ambler.

Authorities say the suspect entered the bank, displayed a handgun, and demanded money. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, authorities say the suspect fled in a light blue BMW.

The suspect is described as a white male in his late 40s to mid-50s, about 6’2” and 230 pounds with a stocky build. He wore a black hooded mask over his face and head, a brown sport coat, and tan pants.

Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at 215-641-8910 or the Whitpain Township Police Department at 610-279-9033.

There may be a reward for information leading to this subject’s capture. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
