Police Investigating Shooting Death Of Man In Lawncrest

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police are investigating the shooting death of a man in Northeast Philadelphia early Thursday morning.

The shooting happened at about 1 a.m. in the 400 block of Sentner Street in the city's Lawncrest section.

According to investigators, when police arrived, they found a 34-year-old face down in the middle of the street with a gunshot wound to the chest.

The unidentified male was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

Authorities say they found a gun underneath the victim. In addition, detectives found three shell casings at the scene.

Police are investigating whether robbery was a motive in the deadly shooting.

So far, no arrests have been made.

The incident remains under police investigation.
