PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — An unidentified female pedestrian was struck by a hit-run driver around 3 a.m. Sunday near 48th Street and Osage Avenue in West Philadelphia.

Police say they responded to a report of a female lying unconscious on the highway.

The 23-year-old victim was taken in critical condition to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania with severe head injuries and broken bones consistent with an auto accident.
