Hardy Plant Sale This Weekend

By Phran Novelli

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A sure sign of autumn is not just the nip in the morning air some of these days, but also fall plant sales, which are starting already.

The Hardy Plant Society's Fall Gardener's Market is this Saturday, August 24th from 9 am to 2 pm. It's free and open to everyone, even if you're not a member of the Hardy Plant Society. You can get great advice from smart gardeners there who are members and are happy to share what they know to help you pick out the right plants for your place.

You'll find trees, shrubs, grasses, groundcovers, and perennials - including those really special cultivars you just don't find at everyday garden centers. Plus lots of native plants, my favorites, which welcome more birds and butterflies to your yard and are easier to care for because they already know how to grow around here!

So bring a wagon to cart your stuff around and head to the Hardy Plant Society's Fall Gardener's Market Saturday morning at the Freedoms Foundation near Valley Forge 1601 Valley Forge Rd., Phoenixville PA 19460.

Get directions at HardyPlant.org.
