Angelo Cataldi Says Charlie Manuel 'Luckiest Manager In Phillies History

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Angelo Cataldi is on vacation from the WIP Morning Show this week, but still made sure to weigh in with his opinion about former Phillies manager Charlie Manuel.

In his weekly column for The Metro, Cataldi calls Manuel "the most overrated manager in Phillies history."

"The bottom line is, he underachieved," Cataldi writes.T"he division was weak, the stands were full and Manuel just kept finding ways to lose the games that mattered most. He had the best team in baseball in 2009, and he blew the World Series to the inferior Yankees. He had a 102-win team in 2011 — arguably the best club of the era — and couldn't get past the far weaker Cardinals in the first round of the playoffs."

As the city has shown an outcry of emotion and support for Manuel, Cataldi says the city has been "snookered by his bumbling charm."

Angelo Cataldi takes vacations from WIP, but never takes a vacation from being Angelo Cataldi.
