PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Trenton Police Department said Detective Edgar Rios, one of two police officers who were shot yesterday, was expected to go into surgery at 9 a.m. at Capital Health Systems’ Fuld Medical Center.

The other injured officer, James Letts, was in stable condition and was expected to be released from the hospital in the next several days.

Both officers were injured when they attempted to serve an arrest warrant to 23-year-old Eric McNeil, who had allegedly been involved in a domestic dispute with his girlfriend early yesterday morning (see related story). McNeil allegedly opened fire on the officers. They returned fire, killing McNeil outside a home along Hobart Street.
