FBI Takes Over Investigation Into Abduction Of Pa. Girl

GOUVERNEUR, N.Y. (AP) — The FBI is taking over an investigation into the abduction of a 10-year-old Pennsylvania girl by a man claiming to be her father.

FBI spokeswoman Carrie Adamowski confirms the agency will lead the probe into Thursday’s abduction of Alexandria Jade Long from her home in Gordon, Pa (see previous story).

A New York man, 39-year-old Peter Tarbox, is accused of taking Alexandria, the daughter of his ex-girlfriend.

Officials in St. Lawrence County, N.Y., say Tarbox and his mother were driving to their home in Norwood when a police officer in the village of Gouverneur spotted their car at a gas station late Thursday night and took them into custody.

The girl was found safe in the vehicle.

Her mother denies that Tarbox is Alexandria’s father.
