OCEAN CITY, N.J. (CBS) --  "Stronger Than The Storm" has become a Jersey shore theme song this summer.

But in many South Jersey shore locations, Hurricane Sandy blew in a bonus.

In Ocean City, the downtown was flooded.  But it didn't take long to bounce back like a palm tree in the breeze.

Chamber of Commerce executive director Michele Gillian says she wasn't surprised that restaurant and shop owners took a critical look at their operations and used the recovery to make some long-delayed changes.

"Some of the stores are bigger and some of them have a lot more room," she notes.

As for the main attraction, the beach, Ocean City was already lined up for beach replenishment before Sandy came to call.  In her wake, the project went ahead from stem to stern.

"It started on the north end and went right through our business district," Gillian says.

Today, there's more blanket room than before the ocean nibbled away the shoreline.
